Commitment to Code Development and Education

Shums Coda Associates continues to be committed to future code development and education, through our association and participation with building related industries. Our primary focus is to establish membership and active participation with local ICC Chapters. We will also plan to re-establish our relationships with professional civil, fire, structural and architectural groups, and State and National Fire or ICC groups. We also intend to continue to be at the forefront of the code changes, and (based on our past experience) offer staff training opportunities as requested from the building community. As with our plan review and inspection services, we firmly believe that efforts to educate both ourselves and the construction professionals will greatly enhance the overall fire and life-safety quality of the built environment.

SCA believes that an understanding of how buildings are designed and constructed is an important element to providing effective code consultation that is based on the realities of practical construction.

Coda – (Noun): 1. Final section of a musical piece – a final section that adds dramatic energy to the work as a whole, usually through intensified rhythmic activity; 2. Extra text – an additional section at the end of a text, for example, a literary work or speech that gives additional information.
