Microsoft campus demolished four of five original two-story office buildings and cafeteria/events center and constructed a combined two-story building with extensive roof decks and landscape features. The goal of the project was to create a more integrated and green structure that would be self-supporting. This involved replacing surface parking with a parking structure, exposed CLT structural systems, recycled and black water on-site treatment facility, as well as emphasis to transition from the structure to the natural watershed/creek on the south side of the property. The final structure was type III-B construction under the mall provisions, and included Group B, A-3, A-2, S-1 and S-2 occupancies.
